2/13: Josh Bell, Beemok Family Foudnation

Thanks to Josh Bell of Beemok Family Foundation for coming by and giving us an update on the great education initiative this foundation is driving through the state. With their efforts, a college education is more accessible to a great number of in-need students

2/6: Ben Towill: Rowing the Atlantic

Charleston restauranteur Ben Towill recounted his inspiring story of how he and his friend completed a 40-day journey across the Atlantic Ocean in a 24-foot boat with just their manual rowing as the source of power. Ben has used the experiences he gained from the preparation and execution of this fantastic journey to offer life lessons we can all learn from.

1/30: John Tecklenburg: Reflections on Mayor of Charleston

A special presentation from two time Mayor of Charleston and our own past president Rotarian John Tecklenburg. John reflected on his accomplishments and experiences in working out of City Hall, not far from where he grew up on Broad Street, and all the great memories and friendships that came long with his role. He highlighted progress achieved in areas such racial relations, flooding and infrastructure, as well as the memories of his deep friendship with the departed and beloved  Chief of Police Luther Reynolds.

1/23: Steve Romono, FBI Hostage Negotiator

January 23, 2024

Former head hostage negotiator for the FBI Steve Romono joined our club and shared his experiences in the tactics used to deal with criminals and other bad actors who have taken people against their will. Interesting tales from infamous crises like Waco, Ruby Ridge and The Freemans.  We are also pleased to recognize our Chief Luther Reynolds Community Impact honoree, CPD Officer Arthur Lee, who was joined by his fellow offices Chief Chito Walker and Lieutenant Tatman, as well as Chief Reynold’s wife Caroline.
