Lent
spins yarns for Rotarians
Former soldier, lawyer, minister shares life experiences
AUG.
5, 2003 Morey Lent entertained Rotarians with Stories
of Life and Faith, invoking both laughter and tears in the
audience. After eleven years of parish ministry and fourteen years
as Chaplain of Porter-Gaud School, Lent is pursuing his dream of
telling stories about life and faith to people of all ages in various
settings, both within and outside of the church.
Drawing
on his diverse background, which also includes serving a tour of
duty in Vietnam, practicing law in the Judge Advocate Generals
Corps. and teaching at West Point, Lent was able to speak of life
experiences that were easily related to by most everyone in attendance.
His
shared stories included fond memories about growing up with his
spunky sister Gretchen, who is now deceased. He also
recounted
an experience that occurred while he was serving in Vietnam, and
his group had become desperate for water to drink and in which to
bathe. They eventually came across an indigenous village with natural
springs. His groups experience with the villagers at the springs
made him realize that we are all one regardless of race,
national origin or political leanings.

Lent says that storytelling fills him with energy and happiness,
and he seeks opportunities to share his stories about real
life with clubs, church groups, schools, businesses, and others.
He is happy to speak without compensation to those who cannot afford
a speakers fee. Says Lent, bringing truth alive through
story is my call, my gift and my passion. He can be reached
