Rotary
Scholars honored by club members
MAY
11, 2004 -- his week the Club honored twenty local high school students
who had been selected to be Rotary Scholars.
The
scholarship recipients came from a wide background of public, private
and parochial schools. A short biographical summary about each of
them was distributed to Club members at the meeting.
These
students were leaders in academics, athletics, and other extra-curricular
activities. Many already knew where they would attend college this
Fall.
The
honorees were, in most instances, accompanied to the Rotary meeting
by their parents, school principals and guidance counselors.
Each
honoree received a certificate and a scholarship check in the amount
of $150 from the Club.
In
other business
Ellen
Katzman gave the invocation and led us in the Pledge of Allegiance,
and Paul Welborn welcomed our guests and visiting Rotarians. Chris
Kerrigan offered a timely Health and Happiness related to mothers
and mother's day. Andy Anderson made an announcement about Adopt-a-Highway.
Bill Eaton announced a meeting for that same day of the Senior Aging
and Issues Committee. Emma Souder summarized some of the work that
Rotarians have done over the last year for Frazer Elementary. David
Spell discussed the upcoming Spring Social, and Myron Harrington
conducted our program on Rotary Scholars.
